How to Recover Data from Factory Reset Laptops

“I have today restores my computer to factory default settings and have lost all my pictures, files etc. Any idea how I can retrieve them at all I have pictures I have had for years all installed on there. Any help much appreciated!”
A new Windows laptop is fast and quick in response. But over time, the accumulation of files, settings, and disk fragments will slow down computer performance, or even cause some major errors, such as blue screen and constant shutting down. In order to solve the problem, restoring the laptop to the state it came out of the factory can solve these mentioned problems easily and quickly. However, though restoring laptops to factory settings can help us solve some problems, it will lead to data loss if you didn’t make proper backups beforehand. What should we do if some important files are lost after factory reset? Is it possible to recover personal files after factory reset?
Can I Recover Personal Files After Factory Reset Laptop
Whether or not you can recover data from factory reset depends on how the factory resetting is done. There are two ways to handle the removal of data in both Windows 8 and Windows 10. In Windows 8, when you decide to remove files, Windows will give you the options of “thoroughly” remove your personal files and “quickly” remove your personal files. In Window 10, the options are “Just remove my files” and “Remove files and clean the drive”.The quick removal or the Just remove my files option, is quick but less secure if you plan to donate or recycle your computer. This option is similar to quick formatting. It just resets the filesystem and cleared the table address. Although inaccessible, the raw data are still there and can be recovered by using professional data recovery tools.
The quick removal or the Just remove my files option, is quick but less secure if you plan to donate or recycle your computer. This option is similar to quick formatting. It just resets the filesystem and cleared the table address. Although inaccessible, the raw data are still there and can be recovered by using professional data recovery tools. The thorough removal, on the other hand, writes random patterns to every sector of the drive, overwriting any existing data visible to the operating system. This process will provide enough security for typical scenarios but as a result consumes hours to complete. This is the option for you if you are disposing of highly confidential business and government data. A single pass overwriting will put most consumer level recovery software off. Even with ample funds and forensic tools, only fragments of data can be salvaged.
How to Recover Data from Factory Reset Laptop
Basically, resetting PC will completely remove all programs, applications, games, documents, pictures, music or movies from the device. But unless you specifically order to clean the drive, these lost data can be recovered with professional data recovery software. Here, H Data Recovery Software is recommended to recover personal data from factory reset laptop hard drives. H Data Recovery Software can also help you handle data loss situations like lost partitions, accidental deletions, emptied recycle bin and other more data lost situations.

After installing H Data Recovery Software, you will see the below window of the main interface. There are 6 data recovery modules and you can select a suitable module according to data loss situation.
Step 1. Install and Launch H Data Recovery Software and select “Formatted Hard Drive Accidentally” or “Universal Recovery”, which will deep scan all drives and partitions to the fullest extent, and try to locate every previously removed file.

Step 2. Select the partition where you want to recover files from. Click Next to start the scan process. It only takes few seconds!
Step 3. When scanning is done, you will be able to see all the files that can be recovered. Check the files you wish to recover and click next to start the recovering process.

How to Recover Data Deleted Long Time Ago?

“How do I recover my deleted data files from a hard disk. I have deleted the files some time ago. Is it possible to recover the data? If it is possible, what software is recommended for the job?”
Hard disk drives are non-volatile memories. The data stored within them can be retained without power for a long time. It wouldn’t be any problem to recover the deleted data, using professional data recovery software such as H Data Recovery Software.
However, the time factor does affect the data recovery result. If the data has been deleted for a long period of time and you have been using this hard disk drive since, then it is very possible that the deleted data will become unrecoverable. The reason is that when we delete a file, the file system only removes the address pointer to that file. But the file itself as raw data is still there. The computer just marks it as “deleted, can be overwritten”. If we put new files in, the computer may notice the newly freed space and cram the new file there. By doing so, the data of the old file, which is a complex combination of ones and zeros, will be re-arranged to form the new file data. So basically, the files you delete become inaccessible to you as files, but the data are still there and can be recovered with data recovery software until overwritten.
It is high recommended that you begin the data recovery as soon as possible to avoid any potential overwriting. Do not attempt to re-partition the hard drive or to reinstall the operating system. Do not put new files to the partition you wish to recover or run programs like fdisk.
How to Recover Data from Hard Drives
Step 1. Launch H Data Recovery Software. There are 6 different data recovery modules, each designed to handle a different data loss scenario, such as deletion, format or partition crash. If you are not sure about the cause, you can choose the Universal Recovery module.

Software to Retrieve External Hard Drive Data on Windows

The external hard disk drive is one of the most popular storage devices that provides greater portability and expandable storage. The amount of data stored on personal hard drives and corporate servers continues to grow. And so is the risk of data loss. Not everyone is very conscious about this risk and keeps a regular backup of their important files. What if our hard drives failed and we have no backups to fall back on? Can we recover data from failed hard drives? Users may lose crucial data from external hard disk in many circumstances, such as:
  • File system corruption due to improper shutdown when it is connected to computer
  • Accidental formatting portable hard disk drives
  • Partition corruption, deletion or formatting due to user mistakes
  • Hard drive corruption due to sudden disconnection caused by power outage or USB cable failures
  • Severe virus attack to portable hard drive makes it as inaccessible
These situations can either cause damage to hard drives or induce data loss from the storage media. When you encounter unexpected data loss, stop using external hard drive immediately because there might be chances of overwriting data or causing further corruption to drive. Choosing a piece of reliable data recovery software and the data on external hard drives can be restored effectively.
H Data Hard Drive Recovery is one of the most recommended tools to retrieve data from portable hard drives on Windows system. It is designed to accurately scan the lost data in order to restore them from all types of portable hard disk drives such as Seagate, Transcend, WD, Samsung, Toshiba and so on. The helpful interface will help you to get back all types of data like documents, images, audio, video etc. within few mouse clicks. It also supports data recovery from crashed/deleted partitions after severe corruption or accidental operation.
  • Free download hard drive recovery software and install it on your computer.
  • You will see the interface of H Data Recovery with 6 unique recovery modes. Choose a recovery mode that is fit for your data loss situation. Place your mouse cursor on each button, and you will get the detailed description of each recovery mode.
  • Click the button of your recovery options and select your hard drive. It will automatically to scan the partition you choose. After the scan, you will see the window of scanning results, where you can preview the results, and filter the files by size, file type and so on.
  • Choose the files and file folders you need to recover, click Next. Choose a recovery path to restore the recovered results. You should not choose the location where you have lost your files in order to avoid data overwriting.

Recover Data from External Hard Drive Asking for Formatting

When you see warnings like “The disk in drive F: is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?” or “This volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted”, you should know that there might be something wrong with the hard drive partitions.
One of the most common reason is that the hard drives have been forced to disconnect from host computers while still working. This can happen in many ways such as a power failure, repeated disconnection caused by bad quality USB cable and unstable voltages. Damage to the partition table or file system structure may cause the computer unable to recognize the file system. As a result, the whole drive may seem to the computer a sea of meaningless data, with no markings of which file starts and ends where on the platter.
For this problem, the first thing that we should do is to check if the hard drive is damaged. You can use Command Prompt to check: click Start, type CMD, then enter into the cmd windows. Type chkdsk, click on Enter. Press Enter key and it will start repairing damaged files and you will see some of your filenames before it finally asks if you want to save lost chains into another location. Click “Yes” just in case. Wait for the repairing process to complete. If you receive the following message: the type of the file system is RAW, CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives, is there anything we can do to recover the lost data?
Recovering data from your busted external hard drive seems like an almost impossible task. But if you have H Data Recovery, it is as easy as just a few clicks. H Data Recovery is a program that will help you recover lost, formatted, deleted or corrupted files from your hard drive in very easy steps. What’s even more exciting is that it can help you recover all file types with this software including videos, music, documents and audio files.
Step 1: To recover files from the external hard drives asking to format, the first step is to download and install the program on your computer. You can download the H Data Recovery for free and take a free trial version for your evaluation purpose. This is the window you should see once you run H Data Recovery.
Step 2: Select the partition recovery mode. You need to scan your external hard drive. To do this ensure that your external hard drive and then select it and click “Next” to scan it.
Step 3: After scanning all the files that have been found will be displayed in the result window. You can decide the ones you want to recover and then mark them. Click on recover to start the external hard drive recovery process.
It is easy to recover data from formatted external devices, with the help of H Data Recovery software. The software can easily retrieve all lost or inaccessible data from formatted or corrupted Windows hard disk and Windows FAT/NTFS partitions. The software also supports to recover data from various external devices like IDE, EIDE, SCSI, SATA, PAN, ZIP, and USB drives.

How to Repair Hard Drive Bad Sectors in Windows

“My hard disk has 302 bad sectors. I’ve been looking for a solution for quite a while but still haven’t got one. Is there any method to repair bad sectors and possibly recover lost data?”
As one of the main storage mediums, hard drives play a significant role in a properly working computer. Due to the delicate mechanical structure of an HDD, it can be fragile and often run into all sorts of problems. Bad sectors are one of the common causes of a malfunctioning HDD.
A bad sector is a cluster of storage space of the hard drive that appears to be defective and doesn’t respond to read and write requests. There are two types of bad sectors: physical bad sector and logical bad sector. Physical bad sector means the cluster of storage space is physically damaged and can’t be repaired. Logical bad sectors are often detected because the system finds the content of the sector doesn’t match the error-correcting code, which may indicate something is wrong. Logical bad sectors are also called soft bad sector because it can often be repaired by using disk repairing utilities.
When hard disk drives begin to have bad sectors, the data in those bad sectors may be lost, but the data on the rest of the disk will be unaffected and the disk is still completely usable. Those bad sectors can not be repaired, but they can be marked as unusable. Once marked as unusable, the Operating System will know not to attempt to store data in those bad sectors. There is no way to fix physical bad sectors, but they can be marked and replaced. The disk has plenty of spare sectors, normally well above a few thousands of them. A brand new hard drive includes spare sectors to use when the regular sectors begin to fail. The data is moved to a clean sector, and the bad sector is marked as bad, never to be used again.
So, if your hard drive is experiencing bad sectors, it is recommended to backup the disk immediately and fix bad sectors as soon as possible. To protect your data, the first step to repairing bad sectors is to restore your important files from the hard disk. We recommend a professional data recovery software – H Data Recovery Software which supports to restore lost data from complex situations including to retrieve data from hard disk with bad sectors.
After you have recovered important data and made proper backups, you can start to repair bad sectors on drives. We can run the disk diagnostic software to detect and mark bad sectors. Sectors marked as bad will be skipped. Logical sectors will then be remapped to a good free space (spare sector pool) as a means of “repair”. In short, ditch the old place and rebuild somewhere else. There’s also logical bad sector (soft bad sector), which is not caused by physical damage to the platter. There could be various reasons, for example, power outage while writing data. It’s just a cluster of data becoming inaccessible, rendering the sector appears to be bad. It can be repaired with zero-fill or windows check disk tool.
The full format will zero-fill your HDD, and also checks for bad sectors. There’s a bad sector table that lists the bad sectors so that the computer will know which area to not write data on. Full format checks for bad sectors and updates the table. It does not fix them because bad sectors are physically damaged and cannot be fixed. If you are using Windows, you can use the command format drive_letter: /p to perform the full format. Full format and zero filling will render the stored data unrecoverable so backup your important files before you do.

How to Recover data from SSD – SSD Recovery Software

On a traditional hard disk drive, if a file is deleted, it’s only the index that has been removed. To the file system, the file is deleted and the space it takes is marked as “not in use”. But in fact, the file still exists as raw data on the hard drive. When the operating system requires more space, it will simply overwrite this “not in use” space. A traditional hard disk drive is able to overwrite data in one single operation, but a solid state drive first has to erase all data in this “not in use” space before it is able to record the new data.
A solid-state drive differs from a traditional hard disk drive in that it has no moving mechanical parts. It is mainly comprised of a controller, flash memories, and cache or buffer. This underlying difference defines how they store, read, and delete data. In traditional hard drive, if a file is deleted, it’s only the index that has been removed, which means the real content still remains until that space is occupied by new data. But in SSD, the content will be removed immediately after a file was deleted under the effect of TRIM.
The TRIM command is designed to enable the operating system to notify the SSD which pages no longer contain valid data due to erases either by the user or operating system itself. During a delete operation, the OS will mark the sectors as free for new data and send a TRIM command to the SSD to mark them as not containing valid data. After that the SSD knows not to preserve the contents of the block when writing a page. As a result, as long as TRIM is enabled when SSD is using, SSD data recovery will become nearly impossible. But there are probabilities that your data can be recovered from SSDs with proper SSD data recovery software under certain conditions.
  1. TRIM is not effective in RAID environments.
  2. Trim is not effective in external SSD drives with USB connection cables.
  3. Older Operating system and older types of SSDs doesn’t support TRIM.
  4. Not all file systems support TRIM. (In Windows, only NTFS)
If you met any of those conditions, you’re able to get your lost data back by using SSD data recovery software. Here is a guide about how to make SSD data recovery work.
Step 1. Connect your SSD to your computer and launch H Data Recovery. Then choose one of the recovery modes. Hover your cursor over the buttons to see the detailed description of each mode. For the recovery of accidentally deleted files, we would recommend Accidental deletion mode. If you want a thorough and deep scan, choose the Universal Recovery mode instead.
Step 2. Select the partition where your files used to be before they get deleted. If you’re using Universal Recovery mode, select the physical drive. Click Next to start the scan process.
Step3. Recover data from the solid state drive. After scanning, it will list all of your lost files it can find on the left. You can click the filename to preview it in the window. Then select the files you want to recover and click “Next” to begin recovering deleted files from SSD.
SSD Data Recovery works pretty simpler as any traditional HDD recovery works except, the software will try to read data from flash chips instead of platters and might take enough time to scan one whole drive. You can free download H Data Recovery to recover data from various instances of data loss from SSD, and take advantage of the free trial policy to evaluate the final result.

Recover Accidentally Deleted Data from Windows Hard Disk

People delete files to make room for new ones. It is also important to keep the hard drive free from unnecessary fragments in order to improve the efficiency of read/write ability. We all at some point accidentally deleted some useful files and it can be rather annoying when it happens. When you delete a file on a magnetic hard disk drive, its data isn’t immediately erased from the disk. Instead, the pointer that points to the data is removed. The data can then be overwritten. It may be possible to scan the hard drive for leftover data and restore deleted files that haven’t yet been overwritten.
Deleted files aren’t removed permanently until they got overwritten by new files. Why won’t the system just delete them right away? To permanently remove a file, it requires the file to be overwritten. That means each time you delete a file, the system will overwrite the file with random 0s and 1s. This is time-consuming and inefficient. The larger the deleted file, the longer it will take to overwrite. Just think about the painful waiting each time you copy a huge file. For users with specific security requirements, there are tools available to erase files permanently in case of unauthorized recovery.
If you deleted a file on a magnetic hard drive and you’re still using that computer, the safest thing to do is shut down the computer immediately. If you continue using the computer, it’s possible that a program on your computer could write to the disk and that data could overwrite the deleted file’s data on your hard drive. The key is to avoid writing to the drive entirely. Install a piece of secure data recovery software on another drive to scan the drive, and hopefully, you’ll find the deleted file. If you deleted the file recently and haven’t written to the drive much, you have fairly good odds of recovering it. If you deleted the file two weeks ago and have written to the drive quite a bit, it’s very unlikely that the file will be recoverable.
We highly recommend H Data Recovery Software as an ultimate solution to your data loss problems. It is simple and easy to use yet fully featured and powerful. Not only can it recover deleted files but also save your formatted USB disks, salvage emptied Recycle Bins or even recover lost partitions. Performing data recovery with H Data Recovery Software is very simple. Just proceed as follows:
Step 1. Free download hard disk recovery software and install it on another drive or partition. Launch H Data Recovery Software and select “Deleted Your files Accidentally” by clicking it.
Step 2. Select the partition where your files used to be before they get deleted. If you wish to recover files on Desktop or from Recycle Bin, choose partition (C:). Click Next to start the scan process. It only takes few seconds!
Step 3. When scanning is done, you will be able to see all the files that can be recovered. Check the files you wish to recover and click next to start the recovering process. If the scanning process failed to find your lost file, try our new feature “Universal Recovery”. It is a special module that scans deeper and quicker into the storage and locates all deleted files.
Step 4. Choose a path to store the recovered file. Remember: immediate action leads to greater chance of a successful recovery! Meanwhile, do not put new files into that partition in order to avoid deleted files being overwritten.

How to Recover Data from RAW Partitions on Hard Drives

What’s RAW? Nowadays, we call the hard drives or removable storage devices which have not been formatted by any file system, such as FAT and NTFS RAW hard drive. We cannot store data on the storage devices without first formatting them. But accidents such as virus attack and improper operations may lead to file system damage or corruption, which in turn making the hard drive RAW. Once the partition table of the hard drive has been damaged, the whole hard drive will become RAW. The OS can only identify different partitions with the help of partition table, which records the size, location, type and other information of every partition on the disk. It is a tricky situation as we cannot access the hard drive without a file system, thus unable to get to the files stored on the drive. But to format the hard drive with a file system would mean a total removal of all the data.
When damage is only inflicted to one partition on a hard drive, you’ll find a particular volume becomes RAW. When you click on the drive, you may receive error messages like “The disk in drive F: is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?”, “You need to format the disk in drive D: before you can use it. Do you want to format it?”, or “This volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted.” If you choose to format the drive, it will successfully rebuild the filesystem for you and make the partition usable again. However, the formatting will delete the data you previously stored on the partition. How to solve this problem?
If you find your drive partition becomes RWA, stay calm and remember one thing: stop writing any data to the RAW drive before you get all important data restored. Writing new data may cause the lost files being overwriting and become lost for good. Then you should choose a good piece of data recovery software that is proven capable of retrieving data from RWA disks. Here is the detailed walkthrough for you with the recommended tool H Data Recovery Software.
Step 1. Install and run H Data Recovery on your computer. Choose lost partition recovery mode from main window shown as below.
Step 2. Choose the RAW hard drive and scan it. The program will run a full scan on the RAW drive and reconstitute the lost files. It may take a while depending on the partition size.
Step 3. When the scan is completed, view all the recoverable files listed and choose the files you wish to recover. The search bar and filter are helpful when trying to locate particular files, otherwise, you could recover all the files.
Step 4. Choose safe drive and location to save the recovered files. And you have just successfully recovered data from RAW partition!
Although RAW drive data recovery can be accomplished with H Data Recovery Software, it is still recommended for you to backup hard drive regularly to avoid any future troubles. Data backup is a very important way to protect data. If you have no backup to fall back on, H Data Recovery Software is always there for you, reliable as ever.

How to Recover Data from Formatted Hard Drive

There are two steps involved in formatting magnetic media such as hard disk drives. In the first step, the actual structures are created on the magnetic surface. This means recording the tracks and marking the start of each sector on each track. Different IDs are assigned to each track and sector to prepare the hard disk drive for use. This is called low-level formatting, sometimes “true formatting” or “physical formatting” since it is physically recording the format that will be used to store data. Low-level formatting is done during the manufacturing process of hard disk drives and is mostly not available to end-users.
The second formatting step is called high-level formatting. This is the process of creating logical structures such as the file systems and root directory. The high-level format uses the structures created by the low-level format to prepare the disk to hold files using the chosen file system. Users can perform high-level formatting anytime they want, to rebuild the file system or to sanitize the hard drive for recycle. It is the formatting we normally refer to, which is an initialization process performed to a disk to make it available for data storage.
We can format the hard disk drive anytime we want by right clicking the drive and choose Format…, but be aware of the fact that all files will be cleared after formatting was actually performed to a hard drive. If you accidentally formatted hard drives, is it possible to recover the data stored on that drive?
To recover lost data from a formatted hard drive in Windows, we’d better turn to professional data recovery software for assistance. That is because professional data recovery software can securely scan the hard drive for lost data without causing secondary damage or introducing data corruption. H Data Recovery Software is highly recommended.  It is featured with 6 data recovery modules. Under different data loss situations, we should choose different data recovery modules. To perform data recovery on formatted hard drives, we should choose the “Formatted Hard Drive” module.
Step 1. Install and Launch H Data Recovery Software and select “Formatted Hard Drive Accidentally”
H Data Recovery software
Step 2. Select the partition where your files used to be before they get deleted. Click Next to start the scan process.

Step 3. When scanning is done, you will be able to see all the files that can be recovered. Check the files you wish to recover and click next to start the recovering process. You can choose a safe directory to save the newly recovered files. It is advised that you don’t save them to the drive or partition where the data loss occurred to avoid potential overwriting.

How to Recover Data from Crashed Hard Drives?

If you’ve ever gotten one of the “corrupt hard drive” errors, you know how frustrating it can be. You are unable to access the contents on the hard drive.  However, it’s still possible that the hard drive is not at fault at all. If you attach the hard drive to another computer, you might find that only the operating system has been corrupted and that the rest of your data is fine. In this case, it’s just a matter of copying everything to another hard drive.
However, once the partition of hard disk drives gets damaged, it becomes tricky for the user to recover lost files and folders that are corrupt, lost or formatted. The corrupted partition of hard disk drive may need immediate recovery because it contains certain crucial window files. Error messages like “You need to format the disk in drive G: before you can use it. Do you want to format it?” or “Drive not formatted. Do you want to format now” may indicate a corrupted partition or corrupted filesystem.
chkdsk /f fixes logical error on the memory cards such as file system corruption. cksdsk /x includes the functionality of /f but it requires the volume to dismount first if necessary, which invalidates all open handles to the drive. Click Start, select Run and enter “chkdsk drive_letter :/x” (quotes not included). Tab Enter to start the disk check process. This command requires your disk volume to dismount so do not use it on your OS drive. Never power off the computer while checking is in progress! Damage could be done to your disk if you do so. This interface will automatically close when the checking is done. Then, try to access your folder or drive to see if the problem has been solved.
Fixing crashed hard drives with CMD isn’t always going to work. If you failed to fix the crashed hard drive, don’t worry. You can try to recover data from the inaccessible hard drive and then format to repair it. This option doesn’t require any knowledge about filesystem or command console. You can retrieve missing files using a professional data recovery tool. Data recovery software like H Data Recovery can be used to scan and restore lost data when hard drives or particular volumes become inaccessible. Use the Professional Data Recovery Software to recover lost data from Hard Disk or crashed Hard Disk is not as hard as it seems. Data recovery is the process of restoring data that has been lost, accidentally deleted, corrupted or made inaccessible. Any file that’s deleted actually stays on your drive until it’s overwritten with another file. This means that if you act fast, you actually have a pretty good chance of getting the file back.
partitions
To recover data from damaged or lost partitions, install and launch H Data Recovery Software and select the Hard Drive Partition Recovery module. Select the problematic hard drive and click Next to proceed with the scan. The scanning process may take a while as the software will locate and collect every file that is stored in the lost partition. When the scanning is complete, you can choose from the listed files and save them to your desired safe destination.

Recovery Software to Recover Lost Data from Deleted Partition

“Is there any recovery software that can recover lost data from a deleted partition? My power went off all of a sudden and now my computer won’t boot and the partition is showing up as RAW. I need to get my data back ASAP.”
It depends on the partition table and boot sector that whether partition can be recognized by system or not. If partition table/boot sector is deleted or destroyed by virus, the partition will be invisible. In other words, you think that you have deleted the partition and lost the data in that deleted partition, but in fact, the data remains there, and they are just inaccessible so that you can’t find them on My Computer. When partitions are lost, the drive returns to its original unallocated raw state. When a hard drive or a partition becomes RAW, it means its filesystem cannot be recognized by the computer and therefore is unable to be mounted as a drive. Since the computer can’t see any filesystem, it prompts you to format it before you can use this drive.
There is data recovery software that can help recover data from deleted partition as long as the lost data is not rewritten or corrupted since then. So, stop adding anything else on the drive of this deleted partition and download data recovery software to another computer drive there. Install this software and run it well there to scan this deleted partition to see whether you can smoothly get all lost data back. Lost partition recovery module of H Data Recovery Software can analyze the whole hard disk and detect the deleted partition, and you can recover deleted partition and get back your important data. Please follow the guide provided below step by step.
How to recover lost data from the lost partition with H Data Recovery?
Step 1. To recover data from unallocated space, install and launch H Data Recovery Software and select the Hard Drive Partition module.
Step 2. Select the hard drive which contains the unallocated space. Click Next to proceed with the scan. The scanning process may take a while as the software will locate and collect every file that is stored in the lost partition.
Tips:
The scan time depends on which recovery mode is selected. The scan may take several minutes in the Accidental Deletion Recovery, or up to an hour in the Universal Recovery where all the physical drives are scanned and analyzed to find all the deleted files.
Step 3. When the scanning is complete, you can choose from the listed files and save them to your desired safe destination. You can use the filter and search bar to quickly pin down the files you want.

How to Recover Deleted Data from An External Hard Disk After A Virus Attack

While external hard drive brings us great convenience in our daily life, it also brings unpredictable risk. Why? The external hard disk contains lots of important data such as photos, videos, Microsoft Word document docx, Excel, pdf, powerpoint ppt files and other important files and folders, personal or business. When a removable hard drive is attacked by virus, all data may be lost. When you get your data lost or inaccessible due to virus attacks, you can try CMD first to recover virus infected files. Being free and easy, it is definitely your first choice. Now let’s look how it works.
1. Plug in your hard drive, memory card or USB drive to your computer
2. Go to the start menu, type in “cmd” in a search bar, hit enter and then you can see something named “cmd. exe” under a list of programs.
3. Right click “cmd. exe” and then you will get the command windows that allows you to recover virus infected files. Type in “attrib -h -r -s /s /d drive letter:\*.*”, for example, “attrib -h -r -s /s /d G:\*.*”.
After all the steps, Windows will start to repair the virus infected hard drive, memory card or USB drive. It may take one or more minutes. After the repairing process finished, you can go to your drive or card to check if you can see all of the virus infected files. If you successfully recover data from USB, memory card or hard drive which is infected with virus, congratulations! But if not, please don’t despair. You have another great option.
External Hard Drive Data Recovery Software to restore lost files and folders
Luckily, there are ways to undelete data from virus-infected external hard drives. Retrieving data and folders from external hard drive is not as difficult as many people thought. Read the hard drive data recovery solution below to see how to recover data from external hard drives.
First of all, stop using the external hard drive immediately. When data is lost, the space used to store data are normally not erased, the system will mark the space as free to use. If new data are written onto the external hard drive, the new data may overwrite the space of lost data, which will make them unrecoverable.
Connect the external hard drive to computer and free download data recovery program. Connect external hard drive to a USB port as you normally do, then go to Windows Explorer, and check whether the external hard drive is shown as a drive letter.
The H Data external hard drive recovery software is able to undeleted photos format such as BMP, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PCX, PNG, PSD, TGA, TIF, TIFF, videos formats such as MP4, AVI, 3GP, AVCHD, H264, MPG, MPEG, MOV, WMV, ASF, VOB, M2TS, and unformat external usb hard drive such as Western Digital My Passport, Seagate GoFlex Ultra-Portable, Western Digital My Book, Seagate FreeAgent Desk, LaCie Little Big Disk Thunderbolt, Seagate Wireless Plus, SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive, Toshiba Canvio Connect, Toshiba Canvio Slim II (1TB), Hitachi GST Deskstar, Seagate Barracuda Green, Samsung HDD, Maxtor, iomega external hard drive, etc. The software also supports desktop and laptop internal hard disk, and removable drive such as pen drive, USB flash drive, memory stick, etc.
Steps to Recover Data from External Hard Disk Drive
Step 1. Connect your external hard drive to your computer and launch H Data Recovery. Then choose one of the recovery modes. Hover your cursor over the buttons to see the detailed description of each mode. For the recovery of virus deleted files, we would recommend Accidental deletion mode. If you want a thorough and deep scan, choose the Universal Recovery mode instead.
Step 2. Select the partition where your files used to be before they get deleted. If you’re using Universal Recovery mode, select the physical drive. Click Next to start the scan process.
Step3. Recover data from the external hard drive. After scanning, it will list all of your lost files on the left. You can click the filename to preview it in the window. Then select the files you want to recover and click “Next” to begin recovering deleted files from external hard drive.

How to Recover Files from crashed Hard Drives – HDD Recovery Software Free Download

Whether you merge several partitions into one, or remove excessive partitions and distribute the free space to another one, you are deleting existing partitions which means your files will get deleted. You’d better backup your important files beforehand.
Repartitioning a hard drive is not always 100% safe and may lead to data loss if you encounter any interruptions or incorrect operations to the hard drive. Errors like Exception Processing Message’, Not Enough Memory can make your hard drive inaccessible and even cause your partition to crash after repartitioning the hard drive. During the process, some errors may cause MBR corruption or partition table damage, which leads to the computer not be able to boot. You will receive warnings like “Non-System disk or disk error, replace disk and press a key to reboot”; “Error Loading Operating System”, or “No ROM Basic,System Halted”.
How to Recover Files after Failed Repartitioning
However slim the repartitioning failure chance might be, we should at least know what to do if it does happen. Of course, the backups are the first choice. After all, that is what backups are for. What if the backup is not perfect and we need more files to be recovered. Are files lost due to partition crash gone forever? Not necessarily.
When a file is gone (deleted, cleared during format, etc.), it is not actually vanished. The raw data still linger on the drive. The computer system only marks that data deleted and overwritable. As long as the deleted data is not overwritten by new data, it can be found, reconstituted and recovered. Therefore you are able to recover files after failed repartitioning, with the help of data recovery tools.
We recommend H Data Recovery Software. H Data Recovery includes 6 data recovery modules: Accidental Deletion Recovery, Damaged/Lost Partition Recovery, Flash Memory recovery, Recycle Bin Recovery, Formatted Drives Recovery, and Universal Recovery, which is the last resort when all other attempts fail. The following tutorial will guide you to recover deleted files after repartition.
Step 1. Free download H Data Recovery Software on and install on your PC.
Step 2. Select the Partition Lost/Crash module shown as below.
Step 3. Scan the specific partition and wait till it’s done. The program will scan your physical drives to find and recover the lost files.
Step 4. View the recoverable files and select files you need. Hit “Next” to recover files to another location in case of data overwriting.

How to Recover Deleted Files From Laptop Hard Drives

Laptops, or notebook computers, with their portable size and productivity, become a necessity for students and office workers. You can easily see why laptops are used frequently nowadays: whether you want to do business on a trip or write essays in your bed, you can do it with a laptop. But, the ubiquity of laptop use also sees an increase in data loss. The question is – can we recover lost files from laptop hard drive?
Data loss situations can be caused by the inaccessibility of storage devices. Logical failure includes file system corruption, operating error, registry damages and so on. This kind of problem prevents users from accessing files stored within the storage devices. However, the data, as well as the internal file structure are undamaged and can be recovered with professional data recovery software. On the other side, physical failure, especially damaged storage units (platter in HDD or NAND flash memories in SSD) means potential permanent data loss. This kind of failure requires you to take it to data recovery experts with proper tools and environment if your data is too valuable to lose.
Data loss situations can also mean the files are no longer where they should be. It is revealed that human error is accountable for at least 12% of the causes of data loss. This may include accidental deletion, partitioning, formatting or overwriting without backups, etc. What’s more, data loss could be a side effect or main purpose of a virus infection. Even anti-virus software might sometimes falsely delete perfectly secure files.
In most instances of hard drive data loss where the data on the disk aren’t physically damaged,  the data are often recoverable with the right tool. We strongly recommend that users make use of H Data Recovery Software to deal with these issues. H Data Recovery is an advanced data recovery software that can perform recovery of lost partitions, inaccessible datainadvertent deletions and much more. Here is how to recover lost data with H Data Recovery.
Step 1. Launch H Data Recovery Software. There are 6 different data recovery modules, each designed to handle a different data loss scenario, such as deletion, format or partition crash. If you are not sure about the cause, you can choose the Universal Recovery module.

Step 2. H Data Recovery Software will then start the data scan. When it is done, all the files that have been deleted will be listed. Browse and preview the files and select those files you wish to recover.

Recover Data from Disk Repartitioning | Partition Recovery Software

When you partition a hard drive, we divide the physical storage medium into several separate logic units. This is often the first thing we do when we acquire a new drive before we can store any files. The information about partition sizes and locations will be stored in the area called partition table so the operating system will know where to find these partitions.

There are times when you have to do something to optimize your partition arrangement. For example, the system partition is running out of space; excessive partitions dragging the system slow; you need to free up more space for your second operating system...In these cases, you sometimes need to extend partitions, shrink partitions, create new partitions, merge partitions, etc. These operations are called repartitioning.

Whether you merge several partitions into one, or remove excessive partitions and distribute the free space to another one, you are deleting existing partitions which means your files will get deleted. You'd better backup your important files beforehand.

You will receive warnings like "Non-System disk or disk error, replace disk and press a key to reboot"; "Error Loading Operating System", or "No ROM Basic,System Halted".
