1. Double check the file you are about to delete. 2. Make a temporary folder to store the files you are about to delete. Clear this folder at a regular interval. 3. When you delete something, press Delete rather than del+shift. By pressing del+shift, the files will be deleted permanently without going to recycle bin first. Every time we are about to clear the recycle bin, check if there are files we'd rather keep.

4. Utilizing an encryption software. Encrypted files cannot be deleted without a correct password.
