Storage devices like USB drive, SD card, removable hard disk are widely used for storing files. Plug the USB device into the USB port, you could choose other USB ports or even link to another computer for testing if the USB device can’t be recognized. If it is a new one and can never be recognized, admit it, you have just bought a bad device.
