When a folder has been deleted from the computer, the files in it seem to disappear. Actually, these files are not immediately destroyed. This has to do with how file system handles files. Files are a series of zeros and ones resides on a platter. They each have been assigned a pointer so that the system knows where to find them. When we delete a file, it is the pointer that has been deleted. The file itself, in its raw form, is still there, only now the system can overwrite it when needed. If “delete” means “erase completely”, then every time you delete something, the system has to overwrite it with zeros or ones. This is safe but awfully inefficient. This is the same with deleting files, formatting partitions or any other kind of data loss.
