When we delete a file from in Windows computer, Windows OS will send it to Recycle Bin. But if you deleted a file from external drives like USB drive, external hard disk, the file will be deleted directly, because Recycle Bin sits on local hard drive, not external drives. Also, Recycle Bin has a limited size. If the file size is too large, or Recycle Bin does not have enough space to store the file sent to Recycle Bin, the file will be deleted directly.
The OS does not erase all the raw data of the files when it deletes the files. This will take too long and there’s no need to do that. The OS delete a file by removing the access address of the files from the file table. The space of deleted files will be now be marked as free since no file in file tables point to the address. Any new file could be written to the address. So in conclusion, Windows leaves the data but marks it as free. This comes to an important tip: do not use the computer when you realize that files are accidentally deleted. This is to prevent new files from overwriting the space of deleted files and improving the chance of data recovery.
Deletion in most file systems means that simply the “reference” to the file is removed and/or flagged as deleted. Therefore, provided the bit of disk that the file actually resides on hasn’t been used again, undeletion can be done with any of a number of utilities designed for that purpose. One of the easiest ways to see if you can recover deleted files is to try some good file recovery software. H Data Recycle Bin Recovery is the recommended software here. The data recovery program will be able to scan the space of computer hard disk and collects the data of deleted files and reconstitute the files.
Step 1. Free download H Data Recovery Software and install in on your computer. Launch H Data Recovery. Select the “Emptied Recycle Bin Accidentally”.
Step 2. H Data Recovery Software will proceed with the scanning. It will take seconds to minutes complete, depending on the size of data.
Step 3. After the scan, you can select a file type to filter the files. This will help you locate your desired files more quickly. Select the files you wish to recover and choose a secure destination to save them.
Also very important, have another flash drive inserted to copy the recovered files to. This is to prevent potential overwriting. You do not want to copy them to the drive that they were deleted from because that copy will possibly cause deleted data blocks to be recycled and destroyed.
