How to solve iOS Devices Can’t Backup to iCloud

“I’m having some problems with backing up my iPhone to iCloud. When I go to my settings and select the iCloud backup, I will be prompt with an error message saying ‘the last backup could not be completed’. What is the problem and how can I fix this?”
There are usually two methods offered by Apple to backup your iOS devices. One is iTunes backup and the other is iCloud backup. Usually, it won’t be any problem using either method to backup our data. But sometimes errors like the above one can happen for no obvious reason. If you have similar issues and fail to backup iPhone or iPad data to iCloud, you can read on and find reliable solutions to fix the “iCloud won’t backup” issue with ease.
Solutions to Fix the “iPhone Won’t Backup to iCloud” Issue
>> First and foremost, have you tried to turn it off and on again? For iPhone 6s and earlier, do this by holding down the sleep/wake button and the Home button at the same time. Don’t release the buttons when you see the Apple logo. Keep holding both buttons until you see the recovery mode screen. For iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Volume Down buttons at the same time.
>> Check whether you have enough iCloud storage: Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage. If you don’t have enough iCloud storage space, the iCloud backup will fail for sure. If you are out of iCould space, you can remove the previous iCloud backups. Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage. Choose a backup, then tap on Delete Backup at the bottom.

>> Reset Network Settings: Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset Network Settings. Your iPhone will reset all network settings. Reconnect your iOS device to the Wi-Fi and try to back up to iCloud again. If resetting network setting doesn’t do the trick, connect to a different Wi-Fi network and try again
>> Update your iPhone/iPad to the latest iOS.
